Essential Oils – My New Pharmacy

In my opinion, essential oils are a gift from God, and each drop of these natural and beautiful healers of the body, mind and spirit are worth their weight in gold.

If you are like me, you are unlikely to take OTC or RX drugs ever again! When you realized you had fluoroquinolone toxicity you probably also realized that fluoroquinolones are not the only dangerous drug out there! Even Tylenol can be extremely dangerous, even for people generally regarded as healthy! It is just too risky to pop another pill! Who knows what will happen? Will it make your symptoms worse; prolong your recovery from FQ toxicity? And while you know you don’t want to take anymore drugs, what will you do when you need help? What if you get sick? What if you have an infection? What if you have a fever? How will you get by? We are so used to the convenience of running off to the drug store for a “remedy” that it is hard to imagine living any other way. But you can! You can discover another way to relate to illness and disease that does not involve OTC and in most cases, avoids RX as well. All you need is some education, motivation and will!!! We do not need to give BIG Pharma one more penny of our hard earned cash! The truth is that nature has provided us with all the help we need. Almost every medication in the world originated in nature. Plants are medicine. Food is medicine. Color is medicine. People have been using essential oils (a highly concentrated extraction from the medicinal plant or food) since biblical times to remedy illness and disease. And we can still use oils as medicine today!

How Essential Oils have been used in My Recovery

I began getting serious about using essential oils in my recovery when my absolutely fabulous Chiropractor and friend, Dina Keon used some oils on my feet during the first few months of flox. She used the Young Living oil blends Awakening, Peace and Calming, and Valor. I felt an immediate reaction to the oils as waves of peace and ease washed over me. I bought all three oils plus Thieves (another Young Living blend). I brought the oils home, but I didn’t feel confident as to the best way to use them. I knew I could rub the oils on my skin and diffuse them, but that was about it. I then got a mentor, another dear friend and amazing healer, Kea Charmak. Kea taught me so much about oils: how to safely use them, when to use them, how not to use them, how to use caution with them, how powerful they can be, how to honor them, how to find the best oils (what is therapeutic grade?), how to blend the oils, how to layer oils, how to travel with oils and how to safely experiment with oils. She gave me the confidence I needed to make oils an integral part of my healing regimen. Thank You Kea!

Now, when you open my medicine cabinet you won’t see OTC, or RX, you will see oils! I use oils for everything! They are safe, natural and THEY WORK! In the last few years I have treated everything from infected wounds and bacterial sinus infections to depression and inability to concentrate with the oils. Honestly, they have even had an impact on my spirituality! I love my oils! I carry them in my purse, I use them on every single client in my healing clinic, and I use them on myself and my family every day. We use them orally, transdermally (on the skin), diffused (in the air), nebulized (inhaled), aroma therapeutically, rectally (ok, this is optional, but it works quickly) and vaginally (yep, that’s right ladies! A few drops of Clary Sage on the tip of your tampon and no more cramps!) Even my son carries his own essential oil kit these days. He takes his 8 favorite oils with him everywhere he goes and has helped several of his friends with injuries and other ailments on the fly!

Which Essential Oils I Use and Recommend

To make things simple, I have created a chart to display the primary oils I use and for what symptoms.  I have listed the 3 brands I like most and their individual blend names.  (I have been asked to remove this feature from my website to remain within FDA compliance guidelines – if you want to know more, contact me here.) In many cases I use a carrier oil to evenly distribute the oil and to lessen skin irritations, but sometimes I use oils undiluted. Every person’s tolerance is different and I highly recommend you use oils with caution until you determine your own tolerance level. If ever in doubt about where or how to use an oil, I highly recommend diluting it and rubbing it on the bottoms of your feet, making sure to hit as many acupressure points as possible in the process. Some of you will feel relief from your symptom right away, but true healing takes time. If you decide to use oils in your healing journey, you should plan to make a commitment to use the oils several times a day, every day, until you have achieved the results you are looking for. Remember that oils are extremely potent (I have heard that one drop of essential oil is as powerful as 34 cups of herbal tea) and can have a surprisingly fast and powerful impact on the body. Do NOT underestimate their potential.

In this chart you will notice that I list “singles” and “blends” (I have removed the blends because the names are proprietary. have I mentioned my distaste for the FDA yet?). A single oil is the essential oil extract from one medicinal plant or food. In most cases, these single oils will be available in all the essential oil brands. An essential oil “blend” is a combination of single oils that have been blended together for a specific purpose. For example, ginger, peppermint, tarragon, fennel, caraway, coriander and anise are all single oils that are known to impact gut health. An essential oil brand has blended these single oils together and labeled their blend. Other essential oil companies will create their own recipe for a gut health blend and name it whatever they want. Sometimes essential oil companies use the same names for their blends, but that does not mean that the blend recipes are the same, nor does it mean that the oils were sourced the same.

*Oils are NOT listed in order of preference. You should research each oil as needed. Not all essential oils are safe for oral consumption and some oils are very irritating to the skin. Please use caution and seek the advice of a mentor when needed.

An Amazing FQ Recovery Story… How Erin reclaimed her Health using Essential Oils!

written by Erin Spangler Wilson

Fluoroquinolone….even the word strikes fear into the heart of anyone who has been stricken with the life changing and debilitating conditions left behind after a round of these synthetic antibiotics. How is it that an antibiotic can render us disabled or make our daily routine seem impossible over night? Most victims are perfectly healthy, fit, energetic and have never known disease. How could an antibiotic do this much mysterious damage on such a colossal scale?  The answer is simpler than one might think. It comes down to 2 things, the gut and the cells.

Research is just realizing that the human gut is far more important than ever imagined. It is actually being called the “second brain” because of the huge impact it has on our brain function as well as neurological health and well being. Happy healthy gut, happy healthy life.  Unhealthy gut flora including parasitic infestations and systemic candida fungus  proliferation and we physically crumble.

Cellular function and health is the foundation for human life. Our health and well being depend on it.

Gut health and cellular function, after fluoroquinolones, I had neither. My flox story is long, nine years to be exact. My first round of Levaquin left me with severe angioedema from the cortisone/Advil cocktail that the doctor recommended for the swelling/rash of my face. He should have poured gasoline on me and lit me a cigarette. My angioedema lasted 5 years and was triggered by foods. This should have been my first sign my gut health was devastated. I eventually recovered from the angioedema and the food triggers abated. Three months later I was forcibly refloxed by an ER doctor who refused me any other drugs. I prayed it would not happen again. I should have wished for 5 years of angioedema again. It was bad. So bad I don’t even want to go into it.

I devoted my life to quinolone victims after I was allowed to live through something no human should have to live through. I began as a member of the online FQ community and began peer counseling other victims. I honed my skills, learned just HOW and WHY we are damaged, listened carefully to other victims and studied anything and everything I could get my hands on related to fluoroquinolones.  I learned a lot and I learned it fast. I also knew I would never stop doing this until I solved this horrific nightmare.

I ate the best food, I drank only the best water, I tried oral supplements only to have a severe reaction to each. I then realized that it all comes down to one thing. The gut. Gut function was responsible for almost every single symptom and poor gut function had a very serious role in how the cells function. Bad gut, bad cellular function, bad symptoms, eventual disease.

My mission……fix the gut with a transdermal solution. Oral ANYTHING and I went toxic. It has to go through the skin.

EUREKA! Essential oils !!!  My life has been transformed over night by using a  blend of essential oils specifically designed for gut function and cellular repair, regeneration and healthy apoptosis (cell life and death).  I have resumed my normal healthy and fully functional life thanks to something that came from the earth. I was skeptical to say the least. I read medical journals and scientific publications “for fun” and how could something as simple as oils made from plants literally stop flox symptoms in less than 72 hours? I had gut critters and I had them bad. I was sick for years due to parasites and severe systemic candida.

My essential oils choice was the finest oils made on the planet. I could risk nothing, no fillers, no chemical residue, no room for error here. The oil I chose was [removed per FDA] to fix the gut.  I knew I needed cellular repair and [removed per FDA] does this and does it fast. I had results with these 2 oils in 72 hours with normal bowel movements. I almost forgot what that was after 9  years. The pain stopped after 9 years. Every symptom (a VERY long and painful list) cured by fixing the gut and supporting healthy cellular renewal. I ran to my floxed friends. They did the same thing and before you knew it….I had many people getting well and using oils. Now they are fixing others. It’s a very good thing.

So how did oils fix me? Simple, the oils are highly concentrated forms of plants taken from their indigenous regions.[removed per FDA guidelines] is specifically designed to be anti-parasitic, anti-inflammatory, anti-spasmodic, anti-bacterial and antifungal and it does this beautifully with a blended concentration of Anise, Caraway, Coriander, Fennel, Ginger, Peppermint and Tarragon. This combo of oils is the “Flox Dream Team”, stopping all the horrible things that have developed in our damaged gut and systemically. Our damage has caused leaky gut so severe that the candida has left the gut and traveled systemically throughout our body, even our brains are effected, It’s known as “brain fog” and it really systemic candida that has seeped into the blood stream and made it’s way to the brain. I could list 50 symptoms of systemic candida but since you are already here and reading this, I don’t need to. YOU ARE LIVING IT. Transdermal application of [removed per FDA guidelines] kills the systemic candida. End of story.

[removed per FDA guidelines] is the “wing man” to [removed per FDA guidelines]. [removed per FDA guidelines] swoops in and builds up the cells that have been injured by the systemic candida. Morning and evening application of [removed per FDA guidelines]  and you have normal energy all day. The blend includes clove, thyme, and wild orange essential oil, providing powerful antioxidants that help protect cellular DNA from free-radical damage. It also includes essential oils from Boswellia frereana (frankincense), lemongrass, summer savory, and niaouli that have been shown to support cellular apoptosis and renewal. I will never be without it. It is my youth oil, giving me the energy of a much, much younger person.

Many people assume that the oils are consumed. They are not, they are used transdermally only. Transdermal application allows the oils to travel to every single cell in the body via the blood stream. It gets in the nooks and crannies where the candida has traveled resolving every issue due to the systemic candida, including the brain alleviating brain fog and memory issues. Consuming the oils causes the oils to be degraded and digested, losing their power even before they get to the place where they are needed the most. Skin is “in” with these essential oils.

I swore I would never stop studying this until I found the answer as to why these drugs do to us what they do. I swore I would never leave victims behind if I ever became well. I swore I would solve this horrible puzzle even if I died doing it. Am I done now that I have put the puzzle together? Not even close.

If you would like to talk about how essential oils can help you, I am offering ½ hour consultations regarding the safe and beneficial use of essential oils. I recovered, let me help you.

Other Essential Oil Success Stories (I will be adding to this area as time permits)

Neuropathy

“Now back to the good stuff….I took my friend/business partner with me to this gentleman’s home. When he opened the door he could barely walk. His right foot was the worst and he could hardly put pressure on it. We whipped out our bag of oils and were armed and ready to go, however, we could not perform the “technique” that we had planned because it required putting pressure on the foot which he could not tolerate. Simply wiping the oils ever so softly over his foot made him jump in pain. So my friend did her best to massage the oils into his foot where he could stand it and wiping them over the part that was so tender. First she applied [removed per FDA guidelines]  oil, second was Frankincense (which normally isn’t used). After applying the frankincense he stopped her. He said he could actually feel it absorbing into his foot (we later realized that what he was feeling was the circulation he hadn’t had in years) and finished with peppermint oil. This took all of 10-15 minutes. When we were done, he started applying pressure to his foot with his hands, then he stood up and put all of his weight on his right foot! He had not been able to do that for 20 years! It was very emotional for all of us.
The power of these oils is amazing. If I didn’t witness this with my own eyes I probably wouldn’t have believed it.”

Which brands can you trust?

There are only 3 brands of essential oils that I can personally recommend and the most important thing about all 3 brands is that they are “therapeutic grade” essential oil companies. Please note, “therapeutic grade” labeling is not regulated by anyone, so the label “therapeutic grade” is less important than the actual quality, purity and safety of the oil. Quality, purity and safety are determined by a number of factors including: WHERE a plant is grown (is it grown where the plant is known to be more medicinally potent because of the region, weather and soil?), WHEN a plant is harvested (was the weather, time of day, season and plant maturity considered?), WHAT plant is used (was the proper family, genus and species of that plant used?) WHAT part of the plant is used (was just the medicinal flower, root or seed used? or did they distill the whole plant to increase production?) HOW the plant was cared for (was the plant exposed to pesticides or grown in chemically treated soil? was it grown in a polluted area?) and HOW the plant was processed (was the plant distilled within minutes of harvest or did it travel by truck first? did the distillation process include chemicals or solvents? was heat used? was the batch first distilled? how quick or slow was the process?). Furthermore, being an intuitive, I have to consider the non-physical properties of a brand, such as the integrity and karma of the manufacturer. With all of that being said, the three brands I use are [removed per FDA guidelines].

I primarily use [removed per FDA guidelines] because [removed per FDA guidelines] sells the purist therapeutic grade essential oils I have ever used. When you are suffering from a toxic condition, purity may be the most important factor when choosing an oil (or anything else for that matter, such as food, water and air). The purity factor makes [removed per FDA guidelines] my first choice for essential oils. These oils are often filtered up to 8 times more than the competition and you can really feel, taste and smell the difference.

The two downsides of [removed per FDA guidelines] are also upsides, and they are price and selection. [removed per FDA guidelines] costs a little more than the competition because the emphasis with their oil is purity. They pay a lot more money to purify their oils so that you can enjoy the clean taste, look and smell of their oils. With that purity comes peace of mind for us floxys because I can guarantee that every microbe of impurity, whether it be a chemical or other toxin they are filtering out of the oil, is an impurity you do NOT want in your body. [removed per FDA guidelines] sells excellent oils, and while that may be reflected in the high price tag on some of their products, you will find surprisingly low prices on some of their other products. [removed per FDA guidelines] also tends to price their oils according to market availability, so the pricing is actually fair and you must remember that you are getting what you pay for. As for their selection, [removed per FDA guidelines] is extremely selective when it comes to producing a clean, pure, therapeutic grade oil. They are not in the business of having an oil of every species, they are in the business of bringing you the best oils they can find from all over the world. So their product line may be limited in comparison to the competition, but is still comprehensive enough to meet the needs of most users. If [removed per FDA guidelines] can’t find a clean batch of high grade oils to purchase, they will eliminate that oil from their inventory until they can get a good batch to work with. They do not compromise on quality just to maintain a colorful product line. This is one of the many things I admire about [removed per FDA guidelines] and why they are my first choice when working with essential oils.

Although I rarely use [removed per FDA guidelines] anymore, I don’t hesitate to vouch for the brand in general. [removed per FDA guidelines] is the most established therapeutic grade essential oil company with a comprehensive selection and incredibly high standards for production. Furthermore, some of their blends are simply magical, such as [removed per FDA guidelines]. While this brand has a big selection of oils to choose from, and coined the phrase “therapeutic grade” they are my second choice for oils, mostly for energetic reasons. Do not get me wrong, if you are already working with [removed per FDA guidelines], you are in good hands, these are great oils and only second to [removed per FDA guidelines], in my opinion, by a thick hair. Because I no longer order with any regularity from [removed per FDA guidelines] , I tend to make any purchases of this brand through Amazon, since I find the very best retail prices there and the purchase is hassle free.

The reason I sometimes recommend [removed per FDA guidelines] is because they use therapeutic grade oils that are either organic, certified organic or wild crafted , they have a huge selection of oils, their prices are great, their oils are energetically solid, and they are not MLM. The two downsides of [removed per FDA guidelines] is that their customer service is reliably unreliable, and their blends are commonly diluted with wild fractionated coconut oil. Ounce for ounce, adding a carrier oil to the essential oil blend devalues the oil substantially, although the potency may be the same as if you diluted it yourself. Ultimately, you will spend less money with [removed per FDA guidelines] , and they are very good therapeutic oils, but their purity and value are not up to par with [removed per FDA guidelines].

What is the best place to buy oils?

The toughest thing about working with high quality essential oils is that you cannot get them at the store. If you are using essential oils from a health food store, co-op or the like, I highly recommend you stop. It is extremely unlikely that the essential oil you purchased is safe for consumption or for topical use. It is also unlikely that you would want to diffuse the store bought essential oil into your breathing space.

To purchase (retail) high quality therapeutic grade essential oils you will most likely need to buy them on the internet. You can find them on the manufacturer websites or you can often find better prices on Amazon. For budget minded consumers, there is always the option of buying your oils at distributor prices, you just have to become a distributor for the brand you are interested in. To become a distributor, you simply contact a person already distributing for the company you are interested in and ask them to sign you up. It is very simple and there are no commitments. I will give one word of caution when choosing someone to sign up under, otherwise known as your “up-line”, be sure to choose someone who will be able to answer questions for you and give you solid advice about the oils.

I am a distributor for [removed per FDA guidelines] because I can’t stand to pay retail for my oils and I enjoy using the brand. You can do the same thing and it will be well worth your efforts. If you have some bias about MLM companies (Lord knows I had a lot before I understood them like I do now) please note that you do not need to become a distributor to get a discount on oils, you can simply sign up as a “preferred customer” which means you are just buying oils at a discount.  Signing up only takes a few minutes and entitles you to buy unlimited oils at a discount… for life! If you have been floxed, essential oils are likely to take over your medicine cabinet and you will save thousands of dollars by purchasing oils as a distributor instead of as a retail customer. And despite the bad press of MLM companies, there is absolutely NO pressure to participate in the business side of essential oils. Essential oils are an essential part of my daily health regimen and I enjoy buying them at the distributor price level, but I have never once felt the need to turn my essential oil love affair into a business, and you shouldn’t either. Just sign up, get your discount, and enjoy!

In the case that you don’t know any oil distributors that you can work with, feel free to sign up under me and I will help you get started with using  [removed per FDA guidelines] . Erin Spangler Wilson and I will personally guide you through the use of essential oils, if you feel you need it, and we are happy to answer questions about essential oils no matter where you buy them. Our motivation is to help as many FQ surviviors as possible to heal from the devastating effects of the poisoning. Just click here and we will get you going.

Why are the best quality oils always sold MLM?

Unfortunately, Multi Level Marketing (also known as MLM or “word of mouth” marketing) is the only effective option for selling high quality, consumable, therapeutic grade essential oils. The reason I say “unfortunately” is because of the overwhelming bias that exists for most of us when we hear about MLM. We have been programmed to shirk away from MLM products because we think MLMs are pyramid schemes. For those of us who take issue with pyramid marketing or being marketed to by our friends, it is a real turn off. But here is the GOOD NEWS, many MLMs have discovered that people want their products (the fact is, some of the best products in the world are only sold MLM) but don’t want to be in the business. Most MLMs of high integrity now offer an option to become a “preferred customer” wherein you still get a discount, although it may not be as deep as if you were a distributor, without becoming a part of the pyramid. Two of my favorite MLMs, doTERRA and ASEA have created this as an option for their associates, and it works very well.

If you look closely, you will soon realize there is no other viable option for selling high quality essential oils, or other extremely high products for that matter, without word of mouth marketing. If you were browsing the supermarket for essential oils and there were 6 brands to choose from and 6 very different price ranges, why would you spend $30 on a bottle of oil when you could spend $6 on the “same” oil? The answer is that you wouldn’t!!!! Essential oil bottles are very small, which means their labels are very small and the FDA puts stringent regulations on what information can be printed on those tiny little labels. So how are you going to know why you need the $30 bottle of oil and why you should steer clear of the $6 bottle? You wouldn’t know unless someone told you. Buying and using essential oils is an intimate experience and the only way you are going to know the truth of the quality, purity and value of the oils is by word of mouth. It can’t be printed on a label. You need an education. And that is why the use of MLM to sell essential oils makes perfect sense. Without the MLMs, we would all be buying $6 bottles of garbage at the health food store instead of buying the powerful healing products available to us at the higher price.

Getting over the MLM issue took some time for me, but now I realize that I wasted a lot of time stewing over something that was really just my own biased conditioning. I was missing the point. The only thing that matters with buying essential oils through a MLM is that you will save money. Just because you sign up, does NOT MEAN THAT YOU NEED TO SELL OILS TO ANYONE. Making money is NOT the point. The point is to TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF and nothing else matters.

Recommended Oil Mentors

Why use a mentor? If you have been floxed or if you just have a faith in God (or the Universe or Whoever/Whatever) that everything we need to take care of ourselves has been provided for us in nature, then you MUST find an oil mentor and start exploring the innumerable ways that these oils can support you and your family. Why do you need a mentor? Because understanding and working with oils is a life changing event and you need to do it right. Oils are REAL medicine and they are ALL NATURAL, which means they don’t come packaged in a pill formula labeled with user friendly instructions. These oils are so powerful and can be used in so many ways, most people will need someone hold their hand (at first) as they explore and experiment.

Are you a do-it-yourselfer? Of course, some of you are self starters and confident enough in either your own judgement or your own intuition, that you will just want to jump in and get rolling, I can relate to that, and if that is how you would describe yourself then I MUST recommend these two books to get you going: Modern Essentials *5th Edition* A Contemporary Guide to the Therapeutic Use of Essential Oils (The NEW 5th Edition) which is a guide to using [per FDA compliance] oils and blends, and the Reference Guide for Essential Oils Soft Cover 2013. The reason I highly recommend Reference Guide for Essential Oils Soft Cover 2013 is because it is organized to be very user friendly for the lay person, but has ALL the information an oils expert would need to know.  It is very comprehensive and my first choice when I need guidance. The only downside to using Reference Guide for Essential Oils Soft Cover 2013, is that the blends they discuss are Young Living, so you will need to find a comparable blend if working with another brand. Now if you decide to buy your own oils, seek some input from Erin and I, and use the recommendations in the books, your next step is to get some oils and start using them on a daily basis. It is important to create regimen and use the oils every day, several times per day. If you do not use the oils regularly, and you do not see improvement, you will have no way of knowing if they work or not and you will never reap the benefits of their full potential. These oils are powerful and have an innate ability to heal, and once you start using them you will LOVE them so much you will not only look forward to using them every day, but you will be excited to learn more!

What is my personal recommendation for a mentor? If you find that you need a mentor, someone to walk  you through this step by step, I highly recommend that you work with someone who understands the volatility of fluoroquinolone toxicity. Not all FQ survivors are alike. Tolerances may be vastly different from person to person and you need to work with someone who understands how delicate your body systems have become. Someone with some intuition is good too, because none of this is cookie cutter.   My first recommendation is that you use this webpage as a place to ask questions for FREE. Myself and Erin Spangler Wilson will be monitoring this page to publicly mentor as many of you as we can. Please do not send private messages, because we want all the other readers to benefit from the questions you ask. Simply scroll to the bottom of this page and post a “reply”. We will get back to you ASAP. I can’t promise that our mentoring will be flawless, recovery from fluoroquinolone toxicity is unpredictable, but I can tell you that we will do our best and that we have a lot of experience between the two of us. Erin has counseled hundreds of FQ survivors in the use of essential oils for treating fluoroquinolone toxicity, and I have been using essential oils in either my personal or professional healing practice every day since 2010!

My second recommendation is that you find a local medical professional to mentor you for free.  If you are fortunate enough to live in a community with a local doctor or chiropractor who specializes in using essential oils, you can schedule an appointment for a consultation. I would treat your appointment like an interview. Ask a lot of questions about their understanding of adverse reactions to drugs, toxicity, detox, the dangers of detoxing too fast and if they are willing to mentor you in the use of essential oils. This is a good time to use your intuition. If you don’t feel confident that this doctor has a firm understanding of your illness and/or the oils, I would thank them for their time and move on to someone else.

My third recommendation is that you pay someone like Kea Charmak (my mentor), Erin Spangler Wilson (an FQ survivor who healed herself with [removed per FDA] Essential Oils) or Myself (Nikki) for a private oil consultation. Consultations over the phone will vary in price but should range between $30-$60 per session.

My final and most reluctant recommendation is for you to ask family and friends for a referral to a local oil distributor. If you can’t find one that way, you can go to the website of the oil brand you are choosing to work with and search their database for a local mentor. This is my last resort recommendation because most oil distributors are oil enthusiasts but not likely to have experience with resolving major life altering conditions like the ones we struggle with after our FQ disasters.

No matter who you choose to support you on this journey, please try to remember that you are not alone. Surviving the devastating affects of fluoroquinolone toxicity is a long and trying journey for many of us, but we do heal. You will get better. For some of you, essential oils will be your saving grace and for others the oils may become an essential tool in your lifelong journey. Whether you turn to oils, oxygen therapy, homeopathy or prayer, just don’t give up and never lose faith that you will survive.

  2. Is there a good way to contact Erin or Nikki?? I am only about a week into being floxed after taking Cipro and I am very interested in learning more about these oils. I went to a local health food store called New Seasons (I live in Oregon) and picked up some lavender last night and rubbed it on my feet which have been cracking with every step I take. This morning I awoke and my feet are less crackly and I am able to put more pressure on them! That was the first time I have ever tried using essential oils, and I diluted about 5 drops into a little bit of olive oil. I would really love to learn more about this to make sure I’m using oils correctly, and any help would be great.
    Best wishes,
    Karina

      • I would also like to know how to get in touch with you and Erin. I also got floxed.

        Thx

      • Please send me the ESSENTIAL OIL article WITHOUT the FDA edits.

There is vital information in there that I need!
I too have been floxed and I want to try the oils, ESPECIALLY the oils the FDA does not want me to know about.

        Thanks, Gina

      • FDA are asshole. sorry to be so crude, and they have shut me down and Doterra kicked me out. Use the contact form to reach me and lets get some oils on you!

      • I would like to discuss essential oils and best approach to detox from Levaquin taken in April for sinusitis. I tried to be proactive by taking a ton of probiotics from different sources while on the medication, but still got a nasty yeast infection and now have leg pain. It did nothing for the sinusitis.

    • I’d like to sign up for a consult over the phone. I am already using essential oils for my son’s PANDAS & Autism. This month he is 2 years free from antibiotics and only using oils. I took for 4 Cipro pills at the end of February and am having symptoms which have seems to intensify over the past few weeks. I am taking several supplements, but would also like to add oils to help speed up the healing process. Thank you!

  3. I am recovering from a UTI. This is the 4th one this year. As usual, the urologist put me on Cipro. I started having such sever cramps that I stopped using it. I took 11 of the 14 pills. I was tested again last week and she called back and said I still had a few white blood cells but the infection was mostly gone. I don’t want to ever have to take Cipro again. I am hoping I can avoid anymore infections but if I do get one I would like to know how to treat it with essential oils. Would Digest Zen and On Guard be what I need? I don’t know the best way to take it. What is trans dermal application? Do I need to have a humidifyer or something to breathe it in? I have been taking Collital Silver.
Thank you so much for this information. I am anxious to begin but I want to do it correctly.
    Carole

    On Guard
    Digest Zen

    • for a UTI I would also try grapefruit seed extract taken orally, along with collodial silver and TONS OF WATER mixed with some pure cranberry (drink 1/2 cup daily at least – try Trader Joes). on guard goes on the feet, but you could also apply oregano and lavender to the feet. orally, try a veggie capsule filled with 2 drops frankicense, 6 drops on guard and 6 drops oregano, take 3x daily.

  4. I have leaky gut, adrenal fatigue and hashimotos thyroid. Now I have levoquin tendinitis in both of my Achilles tendons.

For the hashimotos I rub a drop of frankinsence oil on my neck every day.
For the adrenal fatigue I rub a couple drops of clove and rosemary on my kidney area every day.
(although I just bought rocy mountain immune strength to use from now on)
For the levoquin tendinitis I’ve been rubbing a couple drops of helichrysum and clove morning and night on the Achilles.

    1. I am interested in the digest zen you mentioned. Where are you putting it? On your belly?
    2. What would you recommend for the issues I’ve mentioned above?

The levoquine tendinitis came from rx levoquin for acute bronchitus.
    Thank you.

      • How much of the degest zen is used on the belly and is it mixed with an oil so as to stop irritation .
What oil is needed for brain frog and how is it applied/ratio

      • you can dilute digest zen with a carrier oil. 1-2 drops is all you need to start. as for brain fog, nothing worked better for me than oxygen but if you are more interested in oils, I would look at DDR Prime to start!

    • Please read the book called ‘Trigger Point Therapy Workbook’ it shows that not all tendonitis/osis is actually tendon damage, just tiny knots in our muscles sending referred pain. Tiny knots in scalene (neck muscles) send pain into the chest, upper back and all the way to the hand. Massage the neck muscles and all the pain in the areas mentioned go away. Took me 3 years to realize I did not have true nerve damage. Peripheral neuropathy can be damage, or simply pressure on a nerve disrupting signals. My sciatic pain went away with a glute massage with a tennis ball. B complex nourishes the muscles and treats trigger points. I don’t think there is any real nerve damage as far as peripheral nerves. Give it a try, or look up Save Yourself Ca online and search trigger points. This therapy gets me on a bike and to the gym, just be faithful with your therapy (self applied or with a massage therapist). It will change your life. God bless. Also, I was diagnosed with Lyme disease and found out that Cipro merely woke it up (herxed), now I am treating this to make a full recovery. Naturally, no more Cipro. Thought this whole time, floxxed on 2/7/11 that it was only from Cipro, 3 years later I know why I continued to have symptoms, but way more mild. Now I know what to treat.

      • I to have taken cipro 3 or more times and had a complete breakdown that included 6 weeks of not sleeping, severe HBP and anxiety…..that resulted in my going to NYU Langone clinic for a brain scan…NORMAL. This occurred in 2013 after taking 500 mg cipro 2x /day for a week for a uti. I also took Cipro 2x in 2008, 3 months apart. In addition I had Lyme and Babesia in 2000…..which resulted in hallucinating on LARIUM, which was prescribed for the BABESIA, which is like Malaria. My doctor at the time was holistic and warned that there could be that kind of reaction. I have since read somewhere that LARIUM is also related in some way to the CIPRO -family of drugs and is a red flag warning that I never should have been given Cipro. I also have a history of Hashimoto Thyroid and Fibromyalgia. I have been through hell the past 3 years. Will elaborate another time.
Here’s what has me so upset…..my dad….who died in 2008…..was on prednisone and other meds…he was a strong and happy man and a wonderful musician….while he was on the prednisone!!!!!!!! he was put on Cipro……He kept saying afterward that “he was going to die” , we kept reassuring him he would be fine. He kept saying his ear was bothering him and the sound was driving him to be very upset and after taking Cipro he was never able to sleep well again, he became agitated and highly anxious. He died 3 months after taking Cipro. We had no idea what had happened and only put the pieces together recently. I am still shocked that I am going through what he went through. Even more unbelievable ….my 89 year old mom was given levaquin 2 1/2 months ago……I had not totally realized the relationship with the fluoride family of meds….I’m keeping an eye on her…..see was on co q 10 and magnesium and probiotic (just coinsidentally….not recommended by doctor!). My biggest personal issue is very bad short term memory, unrelenting left side neck pain, floaters and eye stuff(can deal with it)…..but the neck and the full body tightness and stiffness is upsetting. the toe buzzing and feeling like falling forward and pre seizure feeling is much improved. I take mag, fish oil, co q 10. Any comments would be appreciated. thank you.

      • also during the 6 weeks after taking cipro the last time I lost 18 pounds, down from 140 pounds….and I also had many, many symptoms such as feeling like prolapsed uterus and very sore coccyx (went to pt 10 times) and at least 8 different doctors. I was convinced symptoms were related to something thyroid related or lyme related. But was totally confused and also felt like I was going to die.

  5. Since 2007 I’ve had what I call “trigger finger of the calves”. Getting up is very painful & tight — like trying to straighten a trigger finger. It didn’t help that when I had to have my ACL re-done (a total of 10 surgeries in total), the doc put it in backwards (geometry for the right knee on the left) and that screwed things up too.

But one thing is for sure — prior to that I was on heavy Levaquin for sinus infections. The docs were handing them out like candy. I didn’t make the connection until this year, when I went on it agian for whooping cough and my legs got worse. Today I refuse them (good thing, since I also have a tendency for long QTc with meds).

So where do you suggest I begin? My pain is in my calves — they get tight and cramp like tree trunks and the tendons and muscles feel like they are ripping out. I was diagnosed with Myotonia (think Fainting Goat syndrom) but I’m not sure it’s not a result of the Levaquin. Also the Levaquin started eating my knees so looks like I’ll need knee replacement (unless I can get the cartilige to grow back).

I’m on mega doses of magnesium, taurine, and potassium but if there’s another approach, I’m all ears. Also, I’m confused as to which essential oils should be delivered orally (and how much) and which topically? For topically, where? Sorry for all the questions, but this is all new to me, and hopefully, a happy ending to a long and painful situation.

Thank you so much and many blessings to you for this info.

    Paula

  6. I’m a 76 year old male. In July 2010 I had 5- 500mg ‘s Levaquin, got 12 of the symptoms on the Drug Sheet, and about 15 more that were common to others iin the blogs with large numbers of posts. I must have looked crazy to others in the store as i lept into the air as the lightning went through my whole body! I never got over the mucus in my lungs, the purpose of the Levaquin,

My current state includes muscle loss, about 35% in lower legs to 95% in upper torso; mind- eyes- hearing- MEMORY loss; loose joints mostly recovered; numbness in toes and shoulder: very frequent urination; trembliing in gut and right arm.

I am very interested in joining your mentoring program, right away. It would be difficult to even try to read books or program explanation; if I read its gone iin a few seconds and I can’t put the whole process together.

Please provide me your phone no, or how to set up a consultation, or I will send you my number.

Thank you for being here, I think your work is fabulous/

  7. Hi,

Levaquin victim. 2 and a half years out. ADRS include:

Toxic Connective tissue disorder -bodywide -worst areas are around the knees and ankles (ligaments and tendons) but it’s everywhere.

Nerve damage -get cold when season change, dry eyes, mouth, tinnitus, wrinkled fingertips

    Fasting blood glucose becoming prediabetic

    Torn retina/floaters/shadows

Had bowel trouble for approx 1.5 years after levaquin, but getting better.

I’d like advice regarding essential oils – specific blends/products and how to apply them – especially for tendon. musculoskeletal issues and neuropathy issues. Either free advice, or would like to pay for consult. Please email me.

    Thanks 🙂

  8. Sorry if I missed this but where would I apply the DDR? I was floxed about two and a half years ago. A lot of the symptoms seem to have gone away but I am still troubled with wrist pain and eye trouble including floaters. I’ve started working out again but have trouble with energy to work out hard.
We just started using the oils and am excited about this.
I’m defiantly going to try to find somewhere to get the hydrogen peroxide therapy also.

Thanks for all your hard work.

    Justin

  9. I would like to purchase essential oils. I would like to know how to get help from Erin Spangler Wilson, I’m net to the computer and don’t know very much about it. I have took Cipro and I need some help of what oils to use and how many drops I need in applying it to my feet and what do I mix it with.

  10. My 27yo daughter has cystic fibrosis and has been taking cipro on an increasing basis since age 10. Last hospitalization with IV cipro has left her in so much pain and sleeping 18 hours a day. She needs to be strong enough to do breathing treatments to keep her lungs clear. Her pulmonologists don’t even acknowledge the toxicity, although they feel they are missing something; they think an autoimmune disease. She has recurring kidney stones and is suffering from a blockage right now. All this is why I am reaching out and not her-she can’t even use the computer as it hurts her hands and is asleep so much. I want to get a consultation, the book and some oils, please. -B

  11. Please keep your hands of the Doterra Oils especially the Digestzen. I was completely refloxed by the oil. I can no longer work as all of my tendons have been destroyed and it triggered my neuropathic symptoms. I was about 70% recovered before. I have sent the oil to a laboratory for further analysis. I am sure it contains antibiotic structures. Why is it so potent? PLEASE do not remove this Reply as I want to protect others from destroying their health. PLEASE. This oil is deadly for us!

    • patrick, there is no antibiotic in the digestzen, you were not refloxed from the essential oil. period. you are sick, and you may have taken too much oil and started an overwhelming detox. please read my article about cycles!

  12. I am so happy to have found your website. My husband was put on Cipro in Nov of 2013, when he showed signs of Prostate problems causing pressure on his urethra. He didn’t seem to have problems with the Cipro, but my living in the same household with him caused me to have headaches and two months later I suffered a prolapsed vagina. The following Summer, I had surgical repairs for the prolapse. By that time our daughter, and her four children, were living with us (she went through a divorce). Soon after my surgery, our daughter contracted Shingles, in her right ear canal, and she was put on Cipro. Again, I suffered headaches along with body and joint pain and within two months the prolapse reared its ugly head, again. That was in Nov of 2014. I have been to a specialist and they are talking using mesh for the prolapse, this time, but I’m not about to undergo that. I have done research on Cipro and prolapse and have discovered that there is a high incidence of women over 60, (I am 65) suffering from prolapse after taking Cipro. Now mind you, I did not take Cipro, but I was in close contact with two people who did and suffered repercussions because of it. I have had experience with other reactions to Pharma, in the past, from my taking something or coming in contact with someone who taking something or coming in contact with their drugs. I am now trying to control the prolapse using the “Whole Woman” techniques, as well as Bach Flower and Homeopathics. I have used EO’s, off and on for years, more often now in the past year, put need help with this poisoning of myself and my husband and daughter. I have noticed they have brain fog and I attribute this to their being on Cipro, also my daughter is sick too often, now.

  13. Hi I am a Wellness Advocate, I ran across your blog as I was looking for information for a friend of a friend who suffered Cipro toxicity. She is down to 106 lbs and has been unable to work since the beginning of the year because of her health. She is beyond dejected. I’d love to help her by providing the oils for her, would you mind sharing where I can start with her. Thank you so much for sharing your story. Praying to give hope to someone.

  14. My husband is undergoing chemo and now has tingling in his hands and feet. I’m aware of the FDA’s guidelines, thus the reasons for not stating the names of the EO used. Can you email me privately the name of the oil you used to help the elderly gentleman with peripheral neuropathy? I am a distributor of one of the main oil companies. Thank You!!

  15. I took Cipro in 1996. I am no longer in constant pain, but I have bouts of peripheral neuropathy and swelling in my hands, foot pain, blurry vision, food sensitivities, increased anxiety, trouble breathing, and memory problems. I am constantly tired and have exercise intolerance. I’ve almost forgotten what healthy feels like. I’ve tried so many things but not essential oils. Currently I’m doing IV therapy with glutathione, etc. I’d like a consultation please.

  16. Hi! My husband is a suffering Floxie and I would love to set up a phone consult to learn more about essential oils for floxies. Can you please let me know how we can arrange this?

  17. If either of you could point me in the right direction as far as brand(through amazon preferably as I’m about to become unemployed) of oils, I would be forever grateful.
I had surgery in June this year (2015) for superior semicircular canal dehisence. Considered an inner ear/brain surgery. Can’t call it a complete success as my jaw was stretched and dislocated during intubation and can only open the width of a knuckle. Lost hearing g from surgery and replaced with tinnitus. Had to learn to walk again and balance and was making progress until 2 mos later, July 31st. Took my 2nd dose of 750mg of elevation for a sinus infection I didn’t end up having and within 3 hrs, tinnitus went through the roof, followed by prickly and burning sensations, followed by muscle twitching/spasms.
A week later severe joint/muscle pain in feet, ankles Achilles, knees and arms Burning in feet and legs, and increasing brain fog. I had to cut back considerably on my vestibular therapy because of the feet, ankle, Achilles and knees. I haven’t been able to make enough progress, so now my FMLA is up and so to my job and insurance.
I had another CT.scan recently and now docs want a brain Mri with contrast. Seems the other side of my skull may need to be opened up also. This could lead to permanent balance and total hearing loss if I have the surgery. But my concern is focused on the toxicity.
Sorry to rant but With all these head, ear and jaw issues, now this too, I feel like someone has a plastic bag wrapped around my head 24/7 and I can’t get out.
My tmj therapist wants to use a transdermal patch on my jaw for the 2nd time. After the first one, I learned it contains dexamethasone, not sure in what quantity. I’m very leery of a 2nd dose now that I know what it is, a steroid. The therapist says it’s synthetic and shouldn’t cause me issues, but still…….that’s tomorrow.
Any advice on the oils and even the steroid patch would be greatly appreciated!

    Bob

  18. Thank you for posting this information. I was floxed first in 2012, although I did not know it again until I took the poison again this summer. I intuitively knew something was very wrong after I took it. I have had doctor after doctor tell me that my problems weren’t the Cipro because it was out of my system. Then, last night I pulled my low back by simply putting my dog’s food dish on the floor. And despite the pain, I refused to go to the ER or take any OTC medicine. I would rather, well, I probably shouldn’t say that here because I really do want to live.

Thank you for posting this information as it truly gives me hope. I can take magnesium for a few days, but then WHAM! All sorts of reactions. So I took Vitamin B for awhile, and that helped, and then WHAM! I can barely eat anything and often go hungry. Thank you for the reassurance that I know my body, and that essential oils are the key. I keep having this thought that, “I can’t get rid of any more bad stuff. I need more good to replace the bad!” Bless you for this website.

  19. I know I was floxed two years ago can’t get any doctors who believe it.
I am in need of trying to reverse my symptoms. I have constant muscle twitching and heart skipping.

  20. Hi Erin & Nikki
I am floxed 35 male with Cerebral Palsy so i am in need of help.
I already emailed you but still posting here also.
Need to speak to you ASAP to get some guidance as i have access to oils where i am but need advice.
hope to hear from you soon
    Regards
    Marc

  21. Hi Nikki and Erin,

I took cipro against all I know about it due to a chronic UTI situation. I had tried levaquin in the past and got achilles pain so stopped right away. My doc assured me that Cipro is different and I may be fine with it, plus it was the only drug that was active against the 3 infections I have. My doc went as far as to say stay on it at least 7 days even if you get joint pain, because you will have joint pain (I have lyme) as that is your weak area. So the first pill I got achilles pain, and second I only took due to her encouragement. BIG mistake. All my joints feel effected. I could barely walk the first few days, a little better today, but must shuffle not walk normally. I would like to know what 3-5 oils would be best to use. I also have a question about bio-identical cortisol. I read that steroids can make you worse, and I am on low dose of compounded cortisol, 7.5 mg am and 5 mg noon. Do you think this can effect my overall recovery? Thanks to your site, I got on more magnesium, got the transdermal kind, and got glutathione yesterday. I will be getting several over the next few weeks. I am using a home ozone unit, doing saunas and drining ozone water. Please, if you can advise on an oil regimen, and or anything I can do to heal as fast as possible. I am so very sorry for what you all have had to endure, though lyme is no joke, this is it’s own terrible beast I am not happy to know. Blessings, and thanks in advance for your help.

  22. Hi, please note I would like to contact you to get underway with essential oils but could not find any of the links working, please advise or reply to my e-mail? many thanks, Pete

  23. I have been floxed as well. My symptoms began on Jan. 25, 2016 in the midst of my prescription. I have used oils before, but I have yet to discover which ones benefit floxies. I just love that FDA allows Cipro to be prescribed, yet they don’t provide any help with how to undo the damage. I am definitely at the anger stage since I had a few good days and thought I was over this Hell. Yet, my feet and legs are currently on fire, so I am guessing that I have to learn to live in this Hell on earth! I think the brain fog and sight issues are even worse! I would appreciate any support groups you can recommend since you aren’t allowed to share essential oil information.

    • The FDA and DoTerra are all over me for the EO issue. I am going to share it anyway! I am so sick of them shutting my voice down! FREEDOM!!!!!!!! On another note, the burning and the fog are not forever! You will heal! Hang in there! Nikki

  24. where to begin… my normally spunky 90 yr old (diabetic) dad had frozen feet in war foxhole, he has had ongoing circulation issues from. gangrene set in foot, and appeared to be healing, then his heel broke open (was only healed externally) and now infection is in bone. a surgery to scrape / clean was done, some bone removed, also a wound vac was implanted, and he is being dosed HEAVY rounds of antibiotics are being given via IV, and kidneys are now down to working only 20%
: ( … dad is willing to do, but sadly, not all believe as u and I do, so i need some help to get him “oiled” before they literally kill him ! he is obviously in hospital. what can i oil him w/during visits and is there true help for improving the kidney function ? it would need to be gentle, and not a system shock, as he is fragile right now, not eating and in discomfort, and they continue the IV meds !!! uggg ! … he is actually my step dad, and is the greatest man on earth, a God loving man, not afraid to witness, do anything for anyone, amazing creature ! if theres anything that can be done to help bounce him back, please, please advise or suggest ; )

    • When my kidneys were struggling I used a Chinese herbal pill for 10 days and it reversed all my issues. Do you have a Chinese herbalist, acupuncturist, or dynamic grocer in your area? Nikki

  25. Hello, I do not think I have been “floxed” but I don’t know for sure. I was put on a supposed lifetime regime of taking cipro, due to having osteomylitis back in 2011. I have been taking it once a day every day since then . The doctor told me to do this to keep the osteomylitis from re-occuring, because he said once you have it, its in your body you just go into remission. I have been waking up with tingling in my hands and fingers. I am tired a lot of.the time. I am down to my last pill, and would love not to have to take this anymore. I was born with spina-bifida, and have had issues of skin break downs in the past. I am also on.a lifetime regime of coumadin, I would love to not take that any more too. I am wondering if there is any non medicinal hope for me. I am tired of feeling dizzy and nauseous. Thank you for all your help on my behalf. Cheryl D. p.s. I am new.to essential oils I use.them in my diffuser. Because I do not know what is safe to injest. I do make a healing tea every day with fresh lemon, ginger, cayenne pepper, cinnamon, black pepper. Tumerick, and dried oregano. I don’t know if its just in my head but I feel good after drinking it. .Again thanks for your help and advice.

  26. Hi,

Took me most of the afternoon to find you not to mention a lifetime. I would like an appointment with either Kea, Erin, Nikki to mentor me in an essential oil purchase and skin treatment for systemic candida due to early life antibiotics.

  27. Hi there,
My son had to have surgery. I’m here in the hospital with him. They started him on a liquid diet and he is having a lot of bloating. He hasn’t been able to get out of bed much, so I’m try to help things get moving. I brought some oils with me. One of them is a tummy rub blend. It’s already diluted with fractionated coconut oil. I was going to apply some to his belly. How often do you think I should use it? Anything else you recommend?

  28. i would definitely like to get in touch with you all for a consultation. i have a question about topical application of ddr prime and also about digestzen on the belly, do i mix them with the fractionated oil? and a big thank you for sharing your experience with essential oils.

  29. Erin or Nick I need help I just got Floxed three months ago..4 levaquin pills.. I have never took a fq drug in my life.. I m feeling terrible.. My main symptoms are headaches heat intolerance some leg cramps and back pain.. Please I need help of what oils I should use.. Thank u

  30. I took 5 Cipro for a kidney infection. Diagnosed at urgent care on Sunday. PCP took me off Cipro today due to side effects. Horrible numbness and pain in hands, wrists arms and side/back of knees. Also have headache, nausea, dizziness. . Can you please contact me ASAP?

    • Jen, I am so sorry to hear about this. You have definitely been floxed. Please start your detox right away and in your case I would get some glutathione and h202 from a doctor. Best wishes, Nikki
